What is your favorite thing about being a dance teacher at Brodhead Dance Academy? My favorite thing is watching my students learn new skills and express themselves through dance. I look forward to coming to work every evening!
What age did you first start dancing? I began dancing at the age of 7-8, taking ballet and tap classes offered through the Park and Recreation Department in my hometown, Watertown, Wisconsin.
Where did you receive your training and/or what degrees/certificates do you have? I received my dance training at several Wisconsin universities: as a member of dance clubs at UW-La Crosse and UW-Eau Claire, and enrolled as a dance major at UW-Stevens Point, UW-Madison, and completing my degree in dance education at UW-Milwaukee. I also have an Elementary Education degree from UW-Eau Claire.
What words of advice do you have for our young dancers? When you enter into the studio, leave any concerns, worries, frustrations, and self-judgment at the door. Enjoy the opportunity for your mind and body to work and learn together and express yourself through the art of dance!
Tell me about you in a few sentences. I live in Watertown, Wisconsin with my husband Randy. We have 5 grown children and 2 +1 on the way grandchildren. (Miss Kristin is my daughter in law!) I have been teaching dance classes, fitness classes, and choreographing for high school musicals and choral performances for the past 8-10 years. I began teaching at Brodhead Dance Academy last year during the Saturday mini sessions. This will be my first time as an instructor during the 2017-2018 season and I am very excited to begin!
