What is your favorite thing about being a dance teacher at Brodhead Dance Academy?  One of my favorite things about teaching at Brodhead Dance Academy is seeing the excitement on the kids faces when they first come into the studio, start learning their recital dances, or see their costume for the first time! It’s also very neat for me to see things come full circle. I now get to teach the kids of my former teachers at Brodhead Schools.

What age did you first start dancing? I started dancing when I was 3 years old and I started teaching when I was 16. I spent most of my years dancing at a studio in Janesville, where I attended many DMW conventions and was a member of my   studio’s competition team.

Where did you receive your training and what certifications do you have? At age 21 I moved to Colorado where I continued teaching and advanced my skills in Modern Dance under the direction of Elyse Clark (former director of CornerStreet Dance). I am certified in Ballet, Jazz, and Tap through Dance Masters of Wisconsin.

What words of advice do you have for our young dancers? I am eager to share the knowledge and passion of dance that I have acquired over the years with the students of Brodhead Dance Academy. I think that there is a light in everyone, no matter how deep it may be, you just have to let it shine for the world to see. I like to say, “If you feel funny, you’re probably doing it right!” I have been teaching for 12 years now and can not wait to shape and inspire the stars that shine at Brodhead Dance Academy.
